About Our ToysPlease welcome our very special find - amazing hand-crafted wooden toys from the Yaroslavl Region in Russia!
We have come across the toys by chance on our visit to Moscow and could not help but to immediately buy loads to give to our friends and loved ones and their children as gifts. They have proved such a success that we have decided to share them with YOU! These toys are made by a small group of people in the Yaroslavl region, headed by Mikhail, who was very kind to explain the process to us and even shared some photographs of the magic! The birch wood is sourced from a small village near Borisoglebsk in Yaroslavl Region, Russia. They only use core-less birches and dry the wood themselves. The simple wood drier is fueled by the remaining wood from the production. The workshop is devided into two parts: wood-processing and creation of the elements and painting. Here are some photos of the process! ![]() Cutting the elements ![]() Sanding the shapes ![]() Painting the toy ![]() Adding the finishing touches For the end result click here! We would love to hear what you think of the toys and if you have any questions! Enjoy! |
